Reliance Series
Patrol vessels in two hull sizes (8-9m and 10-12m)
Shockwave Marine makes catamarans of exceptional quality. They are structurally sound, and have integrity we can trust. These powercats, in my opinion, are the best on the market. I’ve had experience of aluminium and other cats, and the Shockwave cats far exceed any of those. Andrew Wright is very professional and leads an innovative company.

Proven as a stable, high performance workhorse in a range of applications, this vessel is capable with a range of both inboard diesel sterndrive and outboard petrol power plants to suit various requirements. The range is also available in virtually any configuration including open, half cab, lockup cab and our new commercial survey compliant cab available as both full width and island walk around.
Designed in 2003 by the late Mark Ellis, this no compromise hull form was developed as a 10m vessel specifically for the Fremantle Sea Rescue group. The basic requirements of the design were simple: the vessel had to be fast, yet easy to manoeuvre, extremely stable and be able to go anywhere, in any conditions. The completed vessel, Rescue 100, was launched in 2005 and continues to exceed its crew’s expectations today after almost 10,000 hours of operation.
By the end of February 2019 our Reliance Series have completed 3000 hours (equivalent of 30,000 nautical miles*) and zero lost time due to unplanned maintenance.
* Round the world is 21,000 miles (33,796 km).

Andrew Wright has provided services via Stem2Stern for mechanical support and Shockwave Seats sales and support since 2011 to FVSR, and in 2017 Shockwave Marine built two powercats for us: Resolute and Rover 2. These are Hulls 2 and 3 from the Reliance Series.
It was a staged build, where Shockwave built the hulls and completed structural fittings including providing Shockwave seats, and our engine and electrical fitout was completed by our contractors.
We are impressed by the performance of the two boats; the fit and finish is of very good quality and we have confidence in the strength and integrity of the build – best for their size. I’ve skippered these boats regularly and they are very capable vessels. After the Rottnest Swim this weekend they will have completed close to 3000 hours, combined.

“In particular Andrew’s wealth of experience is of immeasurable value. Because of his training and hours spent in sea rescue, he understands deeply our requirements and is resourceful. He also has a wide network of other service providers, so if he can’t do a job, he knows someone who can, and he will connect you immediately. This saves us so much time.
As an accomplished sea rescue skipper and trainer, Andrew has also assisted in the development of training manuals and training sessions for our volunteers to keep them all on the same page and to troubleshoot.”
